Create a Wi-Fi QR code

A Wi-Fi code writes the network name and password into the code in a format phones understand. Your guest points the camera, taps "join network" and connects without ever seeing the password. This code is static: the details live inside the code, so it works without a server and without internet.

How to do it

  1. 1

Enter the network name and password

The network name (SSID) is case sensitive — type it exactly as it appears on the router. Security is usually WPA/WPA2.

  2. 2

Tick the box for hidden networks

If SSID broadcast is off, tick "hidden network" or the phone will not find it.

  3. 3

    Design and download

Framed templates are ready for a table card or a wall sign. Download a high-resolution PNG, or a PDF for print.

If you change the password

Because the Wi-Fi code is static, the password is embedded in it. Change the password and you need a new code. If you rotate passwords often, point the code at a mini page instead and update the password there — that code is dynamic.

Frequently asked

Is embedding the password risky?
Anyone who scans the code can join, and may be able to read the password on screen. It suits a guest network, not an internal one.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. iOS 11+ and Android 10+ connect straight from the camera app.
Does it need internet?
No. The details are inside the code, so no server is involved.
